President Bola Tinubu has put plans in place to install his son, Seyi, as the next governor of Lagos State in 2027. Current governor Jide Sanwo-Olu will finish his second term in office by then and the president, himself a former governor of the state who has installed all his successors since he left the position in 2007, has anointed his 39 year old son as the next governor.
Very few would dispute President Tinubu’s chances of pulling this off, considering his record of electoral fraud, ability to deploy bullion vans stacked with cash and his control of the political “machinery” in the state. Tinubu the elder will also be seeking re-election in 2027 and only a fool would write off his chances of success, regardless of the will of Nigerians.
A source close to the hierarchy in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) laughed when Naijiant.com challenged his claims about the younger Tinubu following his father into the governor’s office in Lagos. He replied “wait and see”. Seyi Tinubu has now amassed so much wealth that he could fund his own election without relying on his father’s largesse from Lagos State and federal government funds, as we reported earlier this year.

Nigerians groaning under the yoke of the president’s misrule since coming to power in May last year would have to come to terms with a dynastic double act in Lagos and Abuja.
