A highly-placed aide of Peter Obi’s has revealed to Naijiant.com that President Bola Tinubu has hatched a plan, which is at its advanced stages, to neutralise the Labour Party presidential candidate at the last (s)election.
The aide is seen by many as Obi’s right hand man, worked closely with his principal when Obi was governor of Anambra State and was a senior official of the Obi presidential campaign.
He said that Tinubu is increasingly concerned about the attacks against him by Obi’s supporters, known as “Obidients”. The president has an eye on running for a second term and seems determined to neutralise the movement behind Obi before 2027.
The source said the president is working on two options to achieve this goal. The first is to force Obi into exile. If the man refuses to leave Nigeria, the second option is to frame him with corruption charges.
Obi has refused to take a back seat in frontline politics despite the Supreme Court’s dismissal in October of his challenge to the Tinubu (s)election victory.
