Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari for Foreign and Diaspora affairs, displayed conduct unbecoming of someone in public office on Twitter on Sunday.
In response to a Nigerian abroad who asked: “No stable power, High insecurity, low wages, poor infrastructures etc what am I coming home for?”; the former member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Constituency in Lagos State tweeted: “But who is asking you to come?”
Dabiri-Erewa seemed to be in the mood for asking rude questions, but hardly had time for providing answers. When she was appointed in February, in the midst of the obsequious congratulatory wishes, a Nigerian tweeted this article to her, asking for an explanation of what her role entailed. Needless to say that she didn’t answer the question.
Her arrogant and disrespectful tweet follows in the footsteps of petroleum minister Ibe Kachikwu telling Nigerians he had no magic wand to make the petrol queues disappear, and the president’s spin-doctor Femi Adesina asking people to live with petrol shortages.
