Several people have been killed as ethnic clashes have erupted by Yoruba and Hausa communities in Lagos.
The governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has shut down Mile 12 Market and imposed restrictions in the surrounding areas in an attempt to help security agencies quell the violence, that has seen several properties burnt.

The violence reportedly started when a man on a motorbike knocked down a pedestrian and refused to take the person to hospital.
